• By 1837 the settlement counted over 200 people, 34 houses, three dry goods stores, a wagon shop, a tannery, shoe shops, a foundry, a cooper shop, a carpenter shop and a hoopskirt factory.
• Romeo runs its own water supply and treats its own sewage rather than buying service from Detroit, and it was one of the few places in Metro Detroit with clean running water during the blackout of August 14, 2003.
