Why the Address Comes First

Many "evasive defendant" cases turn out to be stale-address cases. The defendant moved, the records were not updated, and the process server is knocking on the wrong door. Before more attempts are made, the first step is confirming the current address.

Confirming the Address Before the First Attempt

We confirm that an address is current before the first attempt, so the server goes where the person actually lives or works. The confirmation goes in the attempt record.

What the Attempt Record Shows

Every visit is logged. The record shows:

  • The address the server went to, and that it was confirmed as current
  • The date and time of each attempt
  • What the server saw or was told at the door
  • How, when and where the papers were served

Why Confirming First Saves Time

Time matters more than technique here. A stale address burns attempts, and every wasted trip pushes the serve further from the date it is needed by. Confirming where someone genuinely lives before the first attempt is what turns three or four fruitless visits into one completed serve and a signed affidavit.

How Papers Delivered Handles It

A skip trace can be added to a serve to find a current address for the person. When someone has moved or is avoiding service, the server keeps attempting at the current address, and every attempt is documented. The completed serve comes back as a signed, notarized affidavit of service.

Papers That Need to Reach Someone Hard to Find

We serve papers anywhere in Michigan, including the hard ones where the address on the papers is out of date. Every attempt is documented and the completed serve comes back as a notarized affidavit.
